Story: Born in London, of Indian background and with an
intense love of color, I decided to name my line after my first name. Anupa, which means "unique" in Skanskrit, considering I conceptualize and individually design all
her products myself and with results that I am really proud of - timeless leatherwork
(bags, wallets and accessories) that are one-of-a-kind, uninfluenced by the
latest trends or colors.
Right now I have expanded the range to leather boxes and jewelry and a men's
range. All a n u p a products are identified by a tourmaline, set in gold,
platinum or silver, and these are sewn onto each piece and delicately surrounded
by exquisite beads - all carefully selected in harmonizing color ranges.
Tourmalines are precious stones displaying a unique splendor of colors befitting
its Singhalese name, "tura mali", meaning "stone of mixed colors". It is
believed that the wearer of a tourmaline is protected from negative energy of
all forms. My target audience are people with an affordable invoice who
prefer to have an anupa product because it is simple, classy and elegant and
most clients who buy are always complimented and noticed for carrying an anupa
product.
I am inspired by a combination of form and function I carefully choose high
quality, premium materials and only deals with suppliers who promote ethical
methods and best practices, If you place my bags within a 100 designer bags my
products are very distinct (leather and beads). i like this as the brand is very
subtle and classy and makes anupa special
Off all the places I have traveled to around the world and the places that i
have shopped in I always see what is trendy and in fashion, but if I want
something a little bit different or not in season color it is almost impossible
to find what I want. So when I started anupa it was purely for my own purposes.
I like to feel good about I wear and so decided to base anupa on my own desires.
Something simple, timeless and elegant.... hence dare to be complimented.....
anyone can buy the latest new brand but having something that not everyone can
have and looking special is important. If you feel good in what you wear and who
you are - you naturally glow and just are happy.
Here are some things I want people to know about my brand:
• All my products are handmade in Vietnam where I am based today. Because I live
in Asia I want to promote high quality products not only that Asia has cheap
products...
• I try to practice eco friendly and fair trade practices throughout my work and
educate my team to do the same in and outside of the home.
• Everything I make is practical there is a use in why everything is where it
is.
• I study and research new techniques and materials to ensure that i try and do
my best to provide sustainable designed products.
• I only make limited editions and each piece is unique.
Wow so many achievements how does one start....Creating anupa with my heart and
not focusing on what fashion trends are. I now employ 2 people directly through
the anupa business and it feels great to know that people rely on me. I'm
learning everyday how to be a more responsible creator to ensure my customers
are buying sustainable products. While having recently opened a boutique in Ho
Chi Minh City, Vietnam to showcase the anupa brand with my business partner and
long time friends Vivek and Kevin who are creating sustainable furniture and
accessories.
What I have achieved so far only enhances the reasons why I wake up everyday
knowing i have the best job in the world and have a fantastic team that I really
love working with is enough. |
