1. The amazing thing about these bags is that they are so functional, efficient and pragmatic while maintaining wonderful design and attention to detail. They are so thoughtful and considered. - Julie from usa, June 03, 2009.

I design bags that strike a balance between trendy and classic, artful yet functional. I have worked for over 10 years as an apparel/accessories designer for companies such as Ralph Lauren and DKNY. In addition, I am an oil painter. I studied fine arts at the University of Michigan and studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. When I started designing accessories, I found my niche. Handbag design brings together all the experiences and skills I have learned so far—including commercial design and fine arts. I launched my first collection of handbags this May 2009. In less than a month after launching, my bags will be sold in several cool and fashionable boutiques in New York City.

My inspiration is the bee—it’s also my logo. Bees produce honey, are sociable, and diligent. Like the Bee, I am dedicated to create handbags that are sweet, flexible to our social calendars, and strike the balance between fashion and practicality. In the process of designing my line, I am similar to the “worker bee,” meticulous and attentive, committed to create a beautiful product. My hardware with bees imprinted on it adds a whimsical touch to my bags.

I source the world’s finest cowhide because it is rich and soft, but still durable. Although my styles are simple, I add details that are unique and compelling. Color and “color-blocking” are key elements of my designs and I choose leathers that have interesting hues. My customer is fashion-savvy and wants a bag that is classic with a twist.

The bags are all made in NYC by local craftsmen and are executed with precision and care—my hangtags say, “Handcrafted in NYC with love and integrity.” The bags have French-blue faille lining and all zippers have my signature ribbon shaped pullers. Every bag has a key chain holder and numerous interior compartments all bound with leather.

One thing I have learned so far is that I need to follow my gut instincts. It’s true that friends and people who see my line may suggest ideas and tell me how to change my designs. The best results happen when I listen to my intuition and stay focused on my ideas.

The best part of having a handbag line is creating, marketing, and selling something that I have put passion, “love and integrity” into making. I am fulfilling my dream of making beautiful objects that people will treasure and use for many years.
