| Creating the brand Fossati has been like traveling back
in time to younger days. Many years ago I designed jewelry for a high end
jeweler. I financed a good deal of my college education designing jewelry; which
led me down my plan B path for over 20 years. My last corporate gig was heading
up Chrysler Financial’s consumer facing online initiatives. I left Chrysler in
2007 and only occasionally look back. In April of 2009 I launched Fossati .
Fossati is my maiden name; my family originates from Milan Italy. My first
collection is named The Italian Collection to reflect my heritage while evoking
the romance and elegance of Italy. The Venice Evening bag and Capri Day bag are
in production. I’m working on a third design I hope to debut in the spring 2010.
The Fossati Italian collection was presented at Henri Bendel in NYC last
October. I’m reaching out to number of exclusive brick and mortar and online
retailers. Fossati handbags are made of luxurious materials like genuine
alligator, ostrich, lizard, and python. Our linings are of soft Italian leather
in bright playful colors. We use only the finest materials because Fossati bags
are made to last and hold their beauty. We hope that our handbags are coveted
and passed down to a favorite daughter or granddaughter. Our customers are
confident, sophisticated women who value quality and uniqueness over brand
recognition. Our inspiration comes from classic timeless design; Simple shapes
always in style that compliment our luxurious exotic leathers.
.
The idea of designing and selling handbags has been a muse between my sister and
me for years. Finding myself at a cross roads in my career with little prospect
of continuing on plan B, I decided to explore making a living following my
passion. I’ve always wanted do something creative. With a history of longevity
in my family, I plan to enjoy this journey well into my 80’s. Now, Fossati is a
boutique luxury brand specializing in exquisite limited edition handbags. As a
US-based online handbag company, our focus is on the detail and our bags are
functional as well as beautiful. We go beyond all the little extra details that
everyone appreciates: classic design, luxurious materials like genuine
alligator, ostrich and lizard, soft Italian leather linings. Each handbag is
discretely branded and comes with a card of authenticity. Our limited editions
are numbered. We consider our handbags functional, wearable art. Classic styling
with an edge, numbered limited editions and heirloom quality; those are the
cornerstones of Fossati.
It was challenging to find the right manufacturer. One manufacturer modified my
design beyond recognition. The quality wasn’t what I expected. He told me it
could cost tens of thousands of dollars to develop a product. I walked away.
But at this point, I am grateful to say that I’ve had phenomenal luck being in
the right place at the right time. The two biggest thrills were being invited by
Henri Bendel to do a trunk show in NYC and signing on with Vivre.com. I’ve been
a fan of Vivre and Eva Jeanbart Lorenzotti for a couple of years and wanted to
partner with Eva when I first discovered Vivre.
