| As a designer my handbags are apart of me and apart of
women all over, creating styles for the everyday life either work or play my
bags are versatile for the whole day. Elspeth New York has been growing for the
past 4 years, traveling while finding new inspirations help me create a well
rounded design. Each new season brings new materials for me to use from; Leather
to Lambskin all the way to Exotic Anaconda. The materials and colors help
inspire me to create that special bag. Creating custom hardware also gives a
special touch that makes my bags special. Versatility is my drive for every
season, giving organization with multi pockets, and light pop color lining
allows my client to not misplace items in her bag.
I have been in the fashion industry for over 9 years working for top American
designers, from Coach to Calvin Klein. Enjoying every aspect of the accessory
world is my passion, I decided to go out and create classic designs for the
everyday woman. I pay so much attention to details and creating a well
constructed handbag to last my clients for years. The versatility allows a woman
to take her bag traveling, to the office, to the gym, or just heading out for
the night on the town with the girls.
As a designer working in the fashion industry you are always on a tight schedule
and budget. I once had a bad season where we as designers were to create
original designs, after working long and hard hours, with editing after editing
the buyers decided to buy directly off of the Asian market. We were set to
basically knot off the bags that had been already knocked off in Asia. That
always gives me a sick feeling when you are hired to not be a designer but to
just steal another's design. By the end of the day I left the company.
Learning every avenue to creating a brand, not only just designing but all the
other aspects that I have learned has helped me grow. Failure is also a great
part of learning the correct way to run a business, you learn to appreciate and
be humble through the highs and lows. My achievements as a designer have given
so many others around me inspiration to go out and go after their dreams.
