I graduated from Cordwainers at The London College of Fashion last year and have been running Cyclodelic along side my studies for the past three years. The bags pictured here have been designed as part of the launch collection for Cyclodelic at Topshop. I am now expanding the range to include soft accessories and plan to launch a clothing line later this year. As cyclists ourselves there can't be any compromise on quality but the bags still have to look great. For this reason we make the outer of the bags in tough abrasion and water resistant cordura but unlike any other cycling accessories brand team them with leather trimmings, reflective ribbon in a rainbow of colours and line them with Sarah's prints. We think this makes them perfect for the urban female commuter as the bags look as good off the bicycle as on.

I began cycling in London three years ago and Cyclodelic was started at this time in the response to the lack of stylish yet highly functional accessories for urban commuters. In Summer last year I teamed up with Textile designer and ex courier Sarah Buck who helped make the range extra special with the use of her exclusive prints as linings and details and together we hope to encourage more women into cycling by growing the brand into a more mainstream market.  In addition, everything in the range is handmade and printed in London. Sarah is seven months pregnant and still road tests the products by using them on her bicycle ride to and from our studios in Hackney and Peckham.

Last November Cyclodelic was running a tight deadline to finish ten hand made cycling capes. In the middle of the order I broke my dominant right hand and had to learn to thread up my machine and sew using just one hand! Luckily Sarah and my boyfriend were around to help get things done but it truly was a nightmare!

Opening the first Cyclodelic concession in Topshop last week felt like such a great achievement. Cycling has had an image problem in this country for far too long. The launch had such a great response from the cycling and fashion media (we were on the television twice in a week) and it has really proved that cycling has become a mainstream activity. I hope that being in Topshop will open up the range and idea of cycling to a wider audience and inspire more women of all ages to ride their bicycles.
