Campos exemplifies the best of classic American leather design: clean, simple, well-made, beautiful bags that are incredibly versatile and useful. Every Campos bag is made to order using 100% locally sourced materials and top-grade leathers from upstate New York.
The idea for Campos was born over a Brooklyn brunch with Roy Campos and Hayden-Harnett designer Toni Hacker, who both share a passion for classic leather craft and using American materials in their work. The goal was to create a made-to-order, zero-waste manufacturing model for the brand that blends fashion with sustainability. Campos launched online in January of 2014 when Roy decided it was time to launch his first eponymous handbag collection.
Hailing from a family of Peruvian leather craftsmen, Roy Campos came to America and opened up his atelier in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in the 80âs. After years of creating patterns, samples, and production for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Rebecca Minkoff, Foley & Corinna, and Elie Tahari,
'We're inspired by clean, classic American leather design with a modern, creative edge. Campos is about simplicity and 'buying less but better' modern basics that blend fashion and sustainability. We support a new manufacturing model that is zero-waste, supports creativity, gives the customer a wide range of choice, and creates jobs.'
Campos exclusively uses American materials and leather in our work, so we're always inspired by what we find in our local markets in NYC. Our approach to design is to create new classics with a fun, creative edge that are functional and beautifully made. We love color and simplicity of form and function.
Campos is growing. Word is getting out there about our factory in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and our made-to-order manufacturing model. The response has been very positive! We just shipped our first order for Anthropologie and some really great US and overseas retailers that we're excited to work with. Our #CustomCampos bespoke bag program is growing and our customers are creating some really great bags.
