Ian James is a self taught designer that turned a pastime hobby into a small business that now sells products around the world. Originally founded in New York, he is now fully based out of Miami, FL.

Ian James New York customers value a handcrafted touch to their products and look for bags that are just as practical for daily life as they are well designed. Many of his products are made in neutral colors to be appropriate for work environments and to be worn with multiple outfits.

Ian James decided to start an accessories line after making a few basic totes for friends and family members. The experience of evolving rudimentary shapes into a three dimensional utilitarian form was quite exciting for him. The Ian James brand began in early 2013 with small canvas pouches and minimal totes and evolved into a full collection of handbags, travel items, small goods, and more with the help of a very supportive customer base.

Though studying for a brief period at Parsons School of Design, Ian James is completely self taught and completes all aspects of his business himself, such as web content, product assembly, and fulfillment.

He loves to incorporate geometric principles in his designs in strong but unobtrusive ways. He infuses the casualness of his Southern California upbringing with the East Coast structure to provide a unique yet functional collection. The cotton canvas and genuine leather enhance the performance of the bags while attributing to the clean aesthetic.

Ian James uses pebbled cowhide leather in various colors to bring his designs to life. In order for his customers to find their belongings easily, he uses non-dyed natural canvas for a bright interior.

The Ian James New York collection is always evolving and growing. He is always striving to make his products more efficient and special each season. He looks forward to continuing sales in the U.S. and to keep growing in the international marketplace.
