Andria Mitsakos FINALIST'S PROFILE

What was your inspiration for this bag?
A vintage bag my grandmother gave me as a child. It's architectural sensibility evokes a modern day sensibility.

What are the retail price-points of your line?
From $400-$2000

Do you change your silhouettes and materials every season?
No, I typically add one or two new styles. I always incorporate exotic skins. I took FW13 off to re-brand and re-launch, as I'm moving my production to Greece to help fuel the economy.

What other handbag designers have inspired you?
So many...Lanvin, piles and piles of vintage, YSL archive, and even straw bags I've picked up in exotic markets in Cambodia.

Have you ever presented your line to Bloomingdales before? If so, what was the result?
I have presented my line to Bloomingdales Dubai and there is interest.

What makes your line innovative and worth of overall?
I've always been a curator of style, and Dea Rosa reflects that. The line works well for women needing something for a lunch meeting in NYC and aperitif in Mykonos. The focus is on the wearer of the accessory, punctuated by excellent quality, premium exotic skins and a sense of place. Think Audrey Hepburn meets Jade Jagger.
